Machine Tool Service Engineer

Role: Machine Tool Service Engineer Location: Manchester/Field Based Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Machine Tool Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of CNC and conventional machine tools across our customer base. This is a field-based role requiring a proactive individual who can work independently while delivering a high standard of technical support and customer service. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimising downtime, ensuring equipment performance, and maintaining strong client relationships. Responsibilities include: Install, commission, and test new machine tools at customer sites Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical, electrical, and control system repairs Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance Provide technical support and guidance to customers on machine operation Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation Work closely with internal teams to ensure efficient service delivery Always adhere to health and safety standards Skills & Experience: Strong fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems Knowledge of CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics Good communication and customer-facing skills Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Strong organisational and problem-solving skills Proven experience servicing CNC or conventional machine tools Previous field service experience is highly desirable Experience with PLC systems or programming is advantageous Full UK driving licence required Willingness to travel and stay overnight when necessaryWR Engineering are the #1 recruitment partner for engineering, manufacturing & technical sales jobs.
