Assistant Accountant – Bodmin – Temporary Assignment (circa 6-8 weeks initially) 💼 Salary: Competitive (Temporary Hourly Rate) 📍 Location: Bodmin, Cornwall 🕒 Hours: 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday 📅 Start: ASAP Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for your next short-term opportunity within a fast-paced business environment? This temporary assignment offers the chance to join an established organisation in Bodmin, supporting a busy finance team during a key operational period. We are working with a valued client, supporting them to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a temporary basis for circa 6-8 weeks initially, helping to bridge a short-term gap within the finance function. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will be working across multiple areas of finance, gaining exposure to a busy and supportive environment where accuracy, teamwork and continuous improvement are highly valued. What You’ll Be Doing ✔ Supporting the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports ✔ Assisting with fixed assets, prepayments, nominal ledger analysis and reconciliations ✔ Preparing and reconciling monthly VAT returns ✔ Supporting year-end audit preparation and information requests ✔ Producing and analysing product costings to support pricing and profitability decisions ✔ Providing financial insight to support commercial decision-making ✔ Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll processing on a rotational basis ✔ Supporting payroll calculations, tax deductions and reconciliations ✔ Assisting Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions ✔ Supporting cash and treasury management activities ✔ Resolving day-to-day finance queries across the wider business ✔ Cross-training across finance functions to provide flexible team support ✔ Contributing to process improvements and efficiency initiatives ✔ Providing cover during absences or peak workload periods What We’re Looking For 💡 AAT qualified or working towards qualification 💡 Strong numerical and analytical skills 💡 High level of accuracy and attention to detail 💡 Confident communication skills (written and verbal) 💡 Strong organisational and time management ability 💡 Proficiency with IT systems and financial software 💡 A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn 💡 A team player who can work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality 💡 A mindset focused on continuous improvement Why You’ll Love This Role ✔ Immediate temporary opportunity within a respected organisation ✔ Exposure to a broad and varied finance function ✔ Supportive and friendly team environment ✔ Opportunity to add real value during a key business period ✔ Ideal short-term role to bridge a gap or gain further experience in industry 📩 Apply now for a confidential conversation about this Assistant Accountant opportunity in Bodmin.
