Junior Mechanical Design Engineer Haverhill | £29,000–£43,000 (DOE) | Permanent | Days A global engineering business operating in the live events and experiences sector is looking to recruit a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer for its site in Haverhill. The company designs and manufactures complex mechanical systems and structures used in large‑scale live events, touring productions and permanent installations worldwide. This role is aimed at graduates or early‑career engineers who want to develop their design capability through real project work, supported by experienced engineers. The role This is an entry‑level to early‑career position within a mechanical engineering design team. You’ll work on defined elements of projects under supervision while building both technical and professional engineering skills. Duties include: Supporting mechanical design work from concept through to detailed design Producing and updating engineering drawings and basic bills of materials Working on assigned assemblies or sub‑systems under guidance from senior engineers Carrying out engineering calculations using hand calculations, Excel and specialist tools Supporting design reviews and implementing feedback Assisting with bid and proposal work where required Supporting production and project teams during design handover Updating drawings from red‑lines and responding to manufacturing queries Supporting inspections and, where required, Factory Acceptance Testing Learning and following company safety, quality and design processes What you’ll need Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline Graduate level or up to two years of relevant industry experience Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering drawings Interest in mechanical systems, mechanisms and engineered structures Willingness to learn and develop technical and communication skills Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team Basic IT skills, including Excel and CAD software Exposure to CAD, FEA or design calculations is beneficial but not essential if you have a solid academic or early‑career foundation.
