Senior Design Engineer Nottingham (Hybrid – 1 day WFH) £45,000 – £60,000 + Benefits Full-time | Permanent A specialist engineering consultancy, operating as part of a rapidly expanding international group, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative electro-mechanical products while playing a key role in taking designs from concept through to manufacture and certification. The Role As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions and supporting projects across the full product lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: * Designing electro-mechanical systems (including switchgear) using 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks * Producing detailed manufacturing drawings * Conducting simulations (FEA/CFD) using tools such as SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS * Building, testing, and developing prototypes for certification * Collaborating with global technical and manufacturing teams * Producing and updating technical documentation (installation, operation, and maintenance manuals) * Providing technical support across international group companies * Occasional international travel to customer and manufacturing sites for support, development, and training About You We’re looking for a hands-on, proactive engineer who enjoys seeing designs through from concept to production. You’ll ideally have experience in switchgear or electro-mechanical systems and be comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines. You will also have: * Minimum 5 years’ experience using 3D CAD in a production environment * Strong communication skills (written and verbal) * A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively in a team * Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 * Strong analytical skills, including hand calculations Desirable Skills * SolidWorks (including simulation) * AutoCAD (2D electrical layouts and wiring diagrams) * ANSYS Maxwell or similar simulation tools * Experience with FEA/CFD software * Knowledge of international design/testing standards * Basic coding or automation skills (macros, microcontrollers, etc.) * Practical machining experience * Additional languages What’s on Offer * Opportunity to work on global projects with international travel * A visible role within a growing business where your contributions matter * Clear career progression within a larger group structure * Early finish on Fridays If you’re an engineer who enjoys a hands-on approach and wants to be part of a growing international business, this could be an excellent next step in your career
