Principal SEN Lawyer

We are currently partnering with a Legal Firm working on behalf of local authorities based in East Midlands, who are recruiting for a Principal SEN Lawyer to join their growing team on a permanent or locum basis. This is a full-time position with a salary band of £61,000 to £76,000 (subject to experience) and locum role is negotiable on experience. Duties will include (but are not limited to): * To lead a team of lawyers providing a range of public sector clients with a professional and innovative legal service predominantly regarding Special Educational Needs and education matters * To act as a legal advisor to client organisations to ensure compliance with statutory duties and obligations and to protect the best interests of the client organisations * To provide supervision and manage the work of the team to ensure that professional guidance is given, that expertise is employed and work is allocated appropriately within the team * To provide overall management of the team’s complex and politically sensitive case load to ensure the provision of high quality, well researched and comprehensive legal advice Skills and Experience required: * Experience on advising on, preparing and presenting SEN and educational law matters * Have a demonstrated understand of local government Legal frameworks, including civil and criminal cases * Experience of advocacy in courts and tribunals Rewards and Benefits: * Hybrid working * Flexible working days Working hours: * 37 hours per week * Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm * On-site once per month Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.
