Maintenance Engineer Colchester | £44,000 | 4 on / 4 off Days (No Nights) About the Role We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy, high-volume manufacturing environment in Colchester. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on keeping production running efficiently, responding to breakdowns, and driving improvements across automated machinery and production systems. You'll be working in a modern manufacturing site with a wide variety of equipment including conveyors, packaging systems, pneumatics, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled machinery. What You'll Be Doing Responding to breakdowns and carrying out fault diagnosis across electrical and mechanical systems Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) Supporting continuous improvement (CI) and reliability projects Assisting with installation and commissioning of new equipment Working closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation What We're Looking For Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer (electrical or mechanical bias welcome) Strong fault-finding and breakdown experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with automated production machinery (conveyors, motors, sensors, PLCs etc.) Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / equivalent) desirable but not essential Backgrounds from FMCG, packaging, plastics, bottling, automotive, or similar industries are highly transferable What's on Offer £18.00 per hour basic (£44,000 approx.) 4 on / 4 off days only (07:00 - 18:00) No nights required Overtime paid at £23.94 per hour Christmas bonus based on hours worked Paid breaks (30 mins) + flexibility on breaks Opportunity to work on modern, varied production equipment Why Apply?
