Sen Teaching Assistant

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD Specialist) Location: Newcastle Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm), Full Term Commitment Required Overview: We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Newcastle. This is a full-time role supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a nurturing and structured environment. Key Responsibilities: * Support students with ASD in both 1:1 and small group/class settings * Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons * Provide emotional and behavioural support tailored to individual needs * Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment * Encourage student independence and social development * Adapt to working flexibly across different classes and age groups Requirements: * Previous experience working with SEN students, particularly those with ASD (essential) * A caring, patient, and nurturing approach * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to commit to the full academic term * A proactive and flexible attitude What We Offer: * Full-time, consistent hours (8:45am–3:45pm, Monday to Friday) * Small class sizes with a high staff-to-student ratio * Supportive and welcoming school environment * Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives While no formal qualifications are required, relevant experience supporting SEN learners is essential.
