We are seeking a Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join our UTD E&DA Design Engineering team based at our Gronau, Germany site. In this role, you will deliver Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) services, including technical feasibility and Best Available Technology (BAT) studies, for a variety of Urenco projects globally. As a C&I Engineer, you will deliver the Conceptual and Basic Design deliverables for new builds or facility modifications, providing direction and oversight to third-party engineering service providers to ensure high-quality outcomes. You will also play a crucial role in developing Urenco’s design standards to meet world-class safety and regulatory requirements, helping Urenco maintain its position as a preferred supplier within the nuclear enrichment sector. Your expertise will inform plant design specifications, asset management strategies, CapEx planning, and safety protocols, enhancing our safety and operational efficiency. What you’ll do As a C&I Engineer, you will: Act as the subject matter expert for Control & Instrumentation within the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) process for new builds or plant modifications. Support the Senior C&I Engineer in developing design specifications, ensuring safety bases are met, and contributing to the Plant Safety Case. Lead and contribute to feasibility studies, design concept development, and optioneering activities, applying general engineering standards and identifying the best available technologies. Provide technical expertise and advice on systems, components, and equipment design across multiple projects within the Urenco group. Ensure all designs comply with regulatory safety standards and reflect industry best practices and lessons learned from the nuclear sector. Key Duties Promote a proactive safety culture, ensuring lessons learned and continuous improvement are embedded into the engineering process. Ensure plant designs integrate robust safety features, drawing on industry best practices and operational feedback. Evaluate C&I design options and support decision-making in feasibility and best available technology studies. Develop and support the delivery of Conceptual Designand Design Specifications focused on C&I systems. Contribute to the Basic Design packages, particularly for Core Plant Technology (CPT), with respect to C&I systems and components. Provide technical oversight and direction for Detailed Design and supplier manufacturing quality processes, as required by project managers. What do you need to thrive in this role? To be successful in this role, you should have: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Additional post-graduate training or qualifications in a science or engineering discipline relevant to Control & Instrumentation. Proven experience in the C&I field, ideally within a highly regulated or complex technical environment. Strong ability to analyse and model complex technical problems and develop innovative, compliant design solutions. Professional experience in Design and Engineering, ideally within nuclear, energy, or process industries.
