Waste Facilities Manager

We are seeking an experienced Waste Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy waste transfer facility. This is a hands-on management role responsible for ensuring the site runs efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations. ⚠️ Essential Requirement Applicants MUST have proven experience managing a waste transfer facility. Applications without this experience will not be considered. Key Responsibilities * Manage all operations at the waste transfer station, including intake, segregation, and dispatch * Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations set by the Environment Agency * Act as (or support) the Technically Competent Manager (TCM) on site * Oversee health & safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment * Supervise and lead site staff, drivers, and plant operators * Manage waste streams, ensuring correct handling, storage, and documentation * Maintain accurate records including waste transfer notes and reporting data * Liaise with contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies * Drive continuous improvement in recycling rates and operational efficiency Requirements * Mandatory: Proven experience managing a waste transfer facility * Recognised qualification such as WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence or equivalent (or working towards) * Strong knowledge of UK waste legislation and Duty of Care requirements * Experience dealing with environmental permits and inspections * Previous people management / supervisory experience * Good organisational and communication skills Desirable * Experience as a Technically Competent Manager (TCM) * Health & safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS * Experience in construction or commercial waste streams * Plant operation knowledge (loading shovel, excavator, etc.) What’s on Offer * Competitive salary * Stable, long-term opportunity with a growing business
