Field Engineer – IT Hardware Kent / Surrey / Sussex (Field-Based – Ideally Tonbridge area) £28,000 + Company Vehicle Do you enjoy getting out on-site and fixing issues rather than being stuck behind a desk? We are working with a well-established technology services provider that supports a wide range of customers across the South East. They are looking for a Field Engineer to join their Technical Services team, providing on-site support, break/fix repairs, and hardware installations across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex. This is a mobile role, so being based around the Tonbridge area would be ideal to cover the region effectively. This is a practical, hands-on position, well suited to someone who enjoys being out in the field, solving problems, and working independently while still being part of a wider team. What You Will Be Doing * Attending customer sites to carry out break/fix repairs on laptops, desktops, and IT hardware * Installing and de-installing equipment as required * Diagnosing hardware issues and resolving them efficiently on-site * Updating job details accurately before leaving each site * Managing parts — ensuring they are labelled and returned correctly * Staying in regular contact with the scheduling / coordination team * Providing a professional, clear, and reassuring experience for customers * Ensuring devices are either fully working or that clear next steps are communicated What We Are Looking For Essential: * Full UK driving licence * Previous experience in a field-based IT support or hardware repair role * Strong knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware (break/fix) * Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule Desirable: * CompTIA A+ or similar certification * Experience with server hardware repairs * Knowledge of server environments or infrastructure * Relevant site certifications (e.g. CSCS card) The Role in Practice This is a structured field role with clear expectations around service levels and organisation. * You will typically start your day on the road, heading to your first job * You will manage multiple visits per day across your region * You will be trusted to manage your time, communicate effectively, and represent the business professionally The Type of Person Who Will Do Well Here * Practical and hands-on — you enjoy fixing things properly * Organised — you keep records accurate and up to date * Reliable — you do what you say you will do * Customer-focused — you care about the end experience, not just the task Package * £28,000 salary * Company vehicle provided * Field-based role covering Kent, Surrey, and Sussex * Supportive team environment with clear structure and expectations If you are currently in a field role and want something stable, structured, and customer-focused then this is well worth a conversation
