Preconstruction Engineer – Specialist Basement & Structural Contractor Location: West London Salary: Competitive + package (DOE) Job Type: Permanent About the Role We are seeking a Preconstruction Engineer to join a thriving West London specialist contractor with over 30 years’ experience delivering complex basement, structural, and enabling works across largely prime residential projects in London. Projects typically reach £15m and are delivered in highly constrained urban environments. The business is also recognised for its pioneering ground engineering techniques and innovative temporary works solutions, allowing it to successfully deliver technically challenging schemes. This is a key preconstruction role, supporting projects from early design stage through to delivery. Key Responsibilities * Support precon activities on complex basement and structural projects * Develop buildability, sequencing, and construction methodology * Assist with temporary works and ground engineering input * Contribute to early-stage cost planning and risk identification * Liaise with consultants, engineers, and internal delivery teams * Manage tender submissions and project handover to site teams About you * Experience in preconstruction, engineering, or project engineering roles * Background in basements, structural works, or ground engineering * Understanding of construction sequencing and buildability * Ability to read technical drawings and work with design teams * Engineering background with a relevant degree/similar Why Apply? * Join a long-established and highly respected specialist contractor * Work on fantastic, challenging projects up to £15m across London * Exposure to innovative ground engineering and complex basement construction * Strong pipeline of secured work and long-term stability * Genuine involvement in shaping projects at early stages
