SEN Outreach Tutor


SEN Outreach Tutor - South East London Location: South East London Hours: 10-20 hours per week (part-time, term-time only) Pay: £30-£35 per hour Start: September 2026 We are seeking an experienced SEN Outreach Tutor in areas surrounding South East London to support a young person with additional learning and emotional needs. This role centres on applying specialist SEN strategies to create a structured, supportive, and responsive learning environment across home and school settings. You will work closely with school staff, parents, and professionals to ensure a consistent, needs-led approach. SEN outreach tutor Key Responsibilities (SEN Focus): Deliver highly personalised learning using differentiated and adaptive teaching strategies Apply autism-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to support engagement and reduce anxiety Use structured routines, visual supports, and clear communication to enhance understanding Implement positive behaviour support strategies, focusing on de-escalation and emotional regulation Recognise and respond to sensory processing needs, adapting the environment and delivery accordingly Support the development of communication skills, allowing processing time and using flexible approaches Build trust through consistent, predictable interactions and by working at the learner's pace Promote independence through scaffolded support and gradual skill development Collaborate with teachers and professionals to ensure continuity of SEN strategies across settings Monitor progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to families and professionals Essential SEN Skills & Experience for SEN outreach tutor: Strong experience supporting autistic children or young people with additional needs Understanding of sensory processing differences and how these impact learning Knowledge of evidence-based SEN strategies (e.g. visual timetables, structured teaching, regulation support) Ability to support Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs through a calm and consistent approach Skilled in building positive, trusting relationships with learners who may experience anxiety or disengagement Flexible, reflective, and responsive to individual needsReeson Education: Reeson Education is England's Premier Recruitment Agency.
