This is a full-time 37 hours per week, Gloucester office-based Role. NO HYBRID OR REMOTE WORKING WITHIN THIS ROLE although there will be a site work element. We are looking for a highly motivated PNT Synchronisation Technical Specialist Engineer with a strong background, experience and knowledge in PNT, in particular Positioning and Timing technology. With a proven track record providing support, design and implementation. This is a mid/senior role with the requirement of strong team leadership and serving as a high-level SME both internally and externally. Key roles and responsibilities for a PNT/Synchronisation Technical Specialist Engineer: To be a Technical Authority serving as the primary point of contact for all support, design, implementation technical challenges and acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the wider Business, customers and partners. Work with stakeholders to establish requirements. Design and implement scalable and secure syncronisation network architectures. Build, maintain and control all design, configuration and policy documents. Provide Design and technical support both internally and externally. Identify and manage risks. Assist with providing migration plans. Assist with ensuring governance and policies are met. Employment History and Experience Will have produced detailed design documentation, including high-level and low-level designs, network diagrams, test specifications and operational records. Been a Technical Lead on Network syncronisation refresh projects. Possess a full understanding and experience with syncronisation distribution, architecture and design, including board and component level. Possess a full understanding of PNT protocols, such as NTP, SyncE, PTP & HA-PTP (White Rabbit). Possess a full understanding of PNT standards. Have an understanding of UK timing strategy. Have an understanding of the methodology of Secure-By-Design. Be able to produce training material and provide training internally and externally. Have experience with PNT testing, test equipment and producing full test reports. Have experience/Knowledge of transitioning from legacy SONET/SDH synchronisation. Possess an understanding of required software, scripts, code and algorithms The candidate will need to demonstrate a high percentage of the below areas: Professional Attributes: Deep knowledge of PNT technology and hardware. Advantageous Skills and experience for a PNT/Synchronisation Technical Specialist Engineer: Knowledge of legacy technology/networks (SDH/PDH). Previous experience in network discovery. Previous experience with one of the MoD primes (BT or Fujitsu as examples) or within the Defence and/or CNI environments. The build and use of Network topology & connectivity software. Expectation: Solid IT skills & proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio & Projects). Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and stakeholder management, both written and verbal. With excellent fluency in English. The candidate will ideally hold a bachelor’s degree with a telecommunications discipline, or a related field is required and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience within the telecommunications industry, specifically within CNI and defence.
