This is a full-time 37 hours per week, Gloucester office-based Role. NO HYBRID OR REMOTE WORKING WITHIN THIS ROLE. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Telecom Radio Engineer specialising in LoRaWAN (LPWAN) Cellular (LTE/NB-IoT) Microwave & Radio Technologies, with a proven track record within CNI environments. This is a mid-to-senior level role requiring strong technical leadership, the ability to lead discovery and architecture activities, and the capability to design and deliver secure, scalable communication solutions across critical infrastructure environments. to join the existing Engineering team. Key roles and responsibilities for a Telecom Radio Engineer: To be a Technical Authority serving as the primary escalation point and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Cellular (LTE / NB-IoT) and LoRaWAN (LPWAN) Microwave & Radio Technologies. Lead discovery, requirements definition, and architecture design, translating business and operational needs into secure, scalable communication solutions. Design, implement, and support resilient telecommunications architectures across utilities, housing, and defence environments, including integration of industrial routers, edge gateways, and secure communication frameworks (VPN, MQTT) including remote management platform software. Deliver and optimise LPWAN and cellular solutions, including LoRaWAN network deployment and NB-IoT use cases across end-to-end communication workflows. Design and validate industrial data integration solutions, including telemetry transformation into SCADA-compatible protocols (e.g. DNP3) and support development of data pipelines and monitoring platforms. Provide advanced troubleshooting and performance optimisation across RF, network, transport, and application layers. Ensure alignment with governance, risk, and compliance requirements. Produce and maintain technical documentation, including high-level and low-level designs, network diagrams, and operational records. Collaborate with engineering, product, and delivery teams to deliver secure, scalable, and future-proof communication solutions. Contribute to product and feature development, including devices incorporating GNSS and precision timing capabilities. The candidate will need to demonstrate a high percentage of the below areas: Professional Attributes: Ability to produce detailed design documentation (HLDs, LLDs, network diagrams, test specifications). Ability to work within governance frameworks. Apply structured architecture methodologies (e.g. TOGAF or similar). Strong knowledge of LoRaWAN (LPWAN) and cellular communication technologies (LTE / NB-IoT). Strong problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder communication skills. Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and customer environments. Experience working within formal quality, governance, and process frameworks. Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Ability to set technical direction and drive delivery through to execution. Strong Knowledge of networking, routing & switching. This is a mid to senior level role requiring strong technical leadership. The ability to lead discovery and architecture activities. Capable to design & delivery secure, scalable communications solutions across critical infrastructure environments. The candidate will ideally hold a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or a related field, and/ or have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the telecommunications industry. Advantageous Skills and experience for a Telecom Radio Engineer: Knowledge of synchronisation technologies (frequency, phase, SyncE, PTP). Understanding of satellite communications. Familiarity with legacy network technologies (PDH/SDH.) Experience with network discovery and topology tools. Experience working within MoD primes (e.g. BT, Fujitsu) or within Defence environments. Expectation: Solid IT skills & proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio). Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and fluency in English. The candidate will ideally hold a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or a related field, and/or have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the telecommunications industry. Salary: £38,000 to £45,000 dependent on experience. Auto enrolment to Pension scheme after 3 months. 20 days Annual Leave plus 8 days Bank Holiday. 1-day extra Birthday Leave
