FM Business Development Director (Public Sector) Location: Home-based (UK-wide travel) Salary: Up to £100,000 + car / allowance, bonus (up to 20%) and benefits Reporting to: Growth Director The Opportunity A leading UK provider of public services is seeking a senior FM Business Development Director to drive growth within its Health-focused Facilities Management business. This is a front-end growth and capture role, with full ownership of identifying, shaping and winning contracts across the public sector. You will lead opportunities from early market engagement and capture planning through bid strategy, governance and submission. The role carries accountability for building and converting a high-value, sustainable FM pipeline, while expanding into adjacent sectors such as local authority, education and emergency services. Key Accountabilities * Lead market, sector and customer analysis to identify priority growth areas and future FM demand * Develop and execute strategic growth plans, aligned to divisional and organisational objectives * Build and maintain senior-level public sector customer relationships, establishing early influence ahead of procurement * Develop and manage a qualified short- and long-term pipeline, including: Capture planning and opportunity shaping, Framework identification and positioning * Bid strategy development (national and regional, hub-and-spoke models) * Work closely with operational, commercial and technical teams to: Define compelling FM propositions, Conduct capability and gap analysis across Hard and Soft FM and Collaborate with peer Business Development Directors to drive cross-sector and cross-service growth What We’re Looking For Essential experience * Strong background in Hard FM and asset management, with very strong understanding of Soft FM services * Proven track record of winning and delivering FM contracts, typically £5m–£100m+ * Demonstrable success building and owning large-scale growth pipelines (circa £250m+) * Hands-on experience leading complex public sector bids and capture activity * Credibility grounded in delivery understanding, not just sales Personal attributes * Confident and credible at senior stakeholder level, internally and externally * Commercially astute, with the ability to translate insight into winning bid strategies * Resilient and adaptable in complex, regulated and evolving environments * Comfortable operating at pace, with ambiguity and competing priorities At a leadership level, you will be expected to: * Drive innovative, profitable growth * Build trusted, collaborative relationships across functions * Translate strategy into practical, deliverable outcomes * Influence and align teams to deliver sustained performance Why Join?
