Job Title: Data Centre Shift Leader (Critical Environment) Location: Essex Salary: £60,000 + Benefits Shift Pattern: 4 Days / 4 Off / 4 Nights / 6 Off (Repeat) Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Shift Leader to join a high-performing team at a critical data centre facility in Essex. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for maintaining the integrity, availability, and performance of all critical infrastructure systems within a 24/7 environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise shift engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient operation of all critical systems (electrical, mechanical, and HVAC) Act as the primary point of contact during shifts for all technical and operational issues Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures and site-specific protocols Authorise and manage permits to work, including high-risk activities Monitor and respond to alarms via BMS and other monitoring systems Carry out and oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works Support incident management, including root cause analysis and reporting Maintain accurate logs, reports, and handover documentation Ensure SLA and KPI targets are consistently met or exceededEssential Requirements HVAP (High Voltage Authorised Person) certification (mandatory) Level 2 & Level 3 Electrical Installations qualifications 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification Proven experience working in a critical environment (data centres, hospitals, or similar) Strong leadership and decision-making skills Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environmentDesirable Skills Experience with BMS and SCADA systems Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and critical cooling systems Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a data centreWhat’s on Offer Competitive salary of £60,000 Structured shift pattern with significant time off Opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art critical facility Career progression and ongoing training opportunities Comprehensive benefits packageIf you are a qualified and motivated professional looking to step into a leadership role within a critical environment, we encourage you to apply
