Building Safety Manager – Birmingham – Housing Client £65,038 per annum 37 hours per week Permanent Overview of the role We are currently recruiting for a Building Safety Manager on behalf of a leading Housing Association based in Birmingham. This role sits within the Building Safety Directorate and reports directly to the Head of Fire Safety. You will take ownership of a programme of fire safety and building safety investment works across a diverse housing portfolio, with a focus on high-rise and higher-risk buildings. Working alongside two existing Building Safety Managers, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with post-Grenfell legislation and the requirements outlined within PAS 8673-2. This is a technically demanding role requiring a strong understanding of fire and building safety, alongside proven experience delivering complex, safety-critical projects within a social housing or similar environment. Responsibilities Develop and manage a programme of fire safety and building safety projects derived from FRA actions, safety case requirements and regulatory expectations Deliver multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they meet scope, budget, quality and time requirements Implement robust project controls including risk management, financial tracking, reporting and audit readiness Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Order and CDM Regulations Coordinate internal teams, contractors and consultants to ensure safe and compliant delivery Manage contractor performance, procurement processes and project budgets Support the maintenance of Golden Thread information and ensure accurate project records Engage with residents and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication throughout project delivery Work closely with Fire Safety, Asset Management and Housing teams to align safety and investment programmesRequirements Demonstrable experience in building safety, fire safety, or landlord compliance within social housing or a similar sector Experience delivering FRA programmes and remediation works across higher-risk buildings Strong knowledge of building safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act and relevant PAS/BS standards Experience in project and programme management, including financial and contract management Professional membership or chartered status (e.g. RICS, CIOB, IFE, IOSH, IIRSM) or working towards Degree or Level 6+ qualification in Building/Construction, Fire Engineering, Building Safety or Asset/Facilities Management Fire Safety or Building Safety qualification (Level 5–7 desirable) Experience working with external stakeholders such as Fire Services and regulators Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders Full UK driving licenceContact: James Glover at Service Care Solutions on (phone number removed) or via email at (url removed)
