The Opportunity Working in conjunction with our Client’s expert design and sales teams, you will be responsible for promoting their high-quality Civil Engineering Products by building and maintaining relationships with Specifiers, End Users, Tier 1 Contractors, Tier 2 Contractors, Civil Engineering Specifiers and Major Infrastructure Specifiers. Our Client’s products are very high quality whilst being competitively priced and are from their UK distribution base, holding all required certification. Main Duties and Responsibilities * Develop existing relationships and create new ones so that our Client is the specifiers 1st choice for their range of products. * Understand the specification process. * Raise the Company’s profile within the Civil Engineering and Major Infrastructure sector targeting Specifiers, Decision Makers and all Key Stakeholders involved in product selection and specification. * Deliver CPD training and presentation. * Knowledge of reading construction drawings would be helpful. * Promote and sell new product ranges. * Achieve agreed targets. * Where necessary, assist with New Product Development areas. * Identifying key Specifiers and Stake Holders Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required In order to be successful in this role, you will need experience in dealing with one or more of the following Specifiers, Tier 1 Contractors, Tier 2 Contractors, Key Decision Makers, Specifier Influencers. * Self-motivated individual who can work well either on their own or in a team in a highly proactive sales environment. * Ability to manage own diary * Track record of Solution Selling * A UK drivers’ licence is essential. * Previous experience as a Specification Sales Manager or similar field-based roles * Competent IT skills are required, including MS Office & Outlook. * Good communication skills with a friendly approach are needed. * The ability to work under pressure with excellent attention to detail is a must. * Sound commercial acumen and an ability to communicate with colleagues and customers to assist the closing of sales opportunities. * A high degree of professionalism and a good understanding of Specifier, Contractor, End User roles within the Specification Process, with the ability to communicate at each of these levels where necessary. * Present and promote to existing and prospective customers * Reach out to customer leads through cold calling * Maintain market awareness including identifying and tracking suitable construction projects and act accordingly * Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments * Provide customer training including Merchant and Specialist Distributor depots if required * Attend open days and exhibitions, both on stands and for research purposes. * Support the launch of new products * Develop joint marketing plans with sales team where applicable. * Maintain accurate customer records. * Prepare sales forecasts Person Specification Proven experience as a Specification Sales Manager Excellent knowledge of MS Office Familiarity with BRM and CRM practices along with ability to build productive business professional relationships Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in specification sales Prioritising, time management and organisational skills Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs Relationship management skills and openness to feedback Accurate and prompt administration, organisation and planning Strong communication skills Being analytical and understanding numeric data Self-Motivation Professional, reliable and diligent Flexibility Positive attitude and outlook Experience in the Civil Engineering sector would be an advantage but not essential Training All necessary training in relevant aspects of our Client’s business will be provided along with continuous training and development opportunities.
