Quality Project Engineer & Supplier Quality Engineer (SQA) 📍 Portsmouth 💰 £35,000 – £42,000 (Negotiable based on Experience) The Opportunity We’re recruiting for a Quality Project Engineer & SQA to join a precision engineering environment working on high-spec, tight-tolerance components. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong quality background in CNC/manufacturing who wants to play a key role in driving product quality, supplier performance, and continuous improvement across the business. The Role Reporting to the Quality Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring products meet exacting standards, often at micron-level tolerances, while supporting process improvements and supplier quality performance. You’ll work closely with production, engineering, and suppliers to drive quality from design through to final inspection. Key Responsibilities Quality & Inspection Develop quality plans, inspection methods, and work instructions Perform and oversee first article, in-process, and final inspections Utilise CMM and advanced metrology equipment to validate components Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 standardsNon-Conformance & Improvement Manage non-conformances (NCRs) and lead root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys) Drive CAPA activities to improve processes and reduce defects Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield and reduce scrapSupplier Quality Conduct supplier audits and monitor supplier performance Ensure incoming materials meet required specifications Support supplier development and corrective actionsProcess & Data Analysis Lead Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Gauge R&R studies Apply SPC and process capability techniques Support production with controlled process changesWhat We’re Looking For Experience Background in precision engineering / CNC machining environments Experience in quality engineering, inspection, or supplier quality Hands-on experience with CMMs and metrology equipmentSkills & Knowledge Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings Experience with quality tools (MSA, SPC, CAPA, 8D, Lean Six Sigma) Familiarity with CAD/CAM or inspection software (e.g. Polyworks, PC-DMIS, PowerInspect) Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsQualifications HNC/HND or equivalent in Engineering (or relevant experience) ASQ CQE (desirable but not essential)Why Apply?
