HSE Engineer – EMEA Industry: Construction / Manufacturing Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum Location: Oakham (Hybrid – Office & International Site-Based) The Role An established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced HSE Engineer to support its Field Services operations across the EMEA region. This position plays a key role in developing, implementing, and managing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) systems, ensuring compliance with international standards while fostering a strong safety-first culture across complex engineering and construction projects worldwide. You will collaborate closely with project managers, construction teams, and field engineers to identify risks, drive compliance, and continuously improve HSE performance. Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental Management * Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in line with international regulations * Produce and manage standard documentation, templates, and process maps * Conduct risk assessments, audits, and site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards * Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented * Oversee certification and calibration of critical equipment Compliance & Workforce Assurance * Verify qualifications and safety documentation for engineers prior to mobilisation * Support onboarding, auditing, and vetting of contractors and subcontractors * Ensure all personnel meet client and regional compliance requirements Training & Culture * Deliver HSE training and awareness programmes across field service teams * Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset Performance Monitoring & Reporting * Track HSE KPIs, audit findings, and incident data * Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) * Work closely with wider QHSE leadership on reporting and compliance initiatives About You * Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Quality Management, or related field (preferred) * Minimum 10 years’ experience in an HSE role within engineering, construction, or industrial sectors (e.g. oil & gas, petrochemical, power) * Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices * Experience with audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations * Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills * Strong IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, project tools) * Hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example both on-site and in the office * Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment Certifications * NEBOSH or equivalent * ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 Additional Requirements * Full UK driving licence * Willingness to travel internationally (including remote and offshore locations) * Able to commute to an East Midlands office location Working Pattern This is a hybrid role with an approximate 50/50 split between office and site work. Flexibility is essential, as travel and working hours may vary depending on project demands, including occasional evenings and weekends
