Design Engineer

Design Engineer / Structural Detailer Nottinghamshire (Fully Office-Based) Up to £43,000 (DOE) Full-time | Permanent Rise10 Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established and growing UK business within the storage solutions and structural steel sector to recruit an experienced Design Engineer / Structural Detailer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded team, working on a variety of structural steel and mezzanine floor projects from concept through to installation. The role offers the chance to play a key part in delivering technically sound, high-quality designs within a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Please note: Mezzanine floor and/or structural steel experience is essential for this role. The Role: As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the full design lifecycle, from initial concept and structural calculations through to detailed fabrication and installation drawings. * Structural & Mezzanine Design: Interpret client requirements and produce compliant, practical design solutions * CAD & Modelling: Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Advance Steel * Fabrication Drawings: Produce detailed fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) * Installation Layouts: Develop clear and accurate installation drawings for site teams * Staircase Design: Design staircase solutions in line with current building regulations and British Standards * Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure project requirements are met * Site Surveys: Attend sites across the UK when required to carry out surveys and verify measurements * Documentation: Support wider project documentation and technical outputs About You: We’re looking for a technically strong and detail-oriented Design Engineer who can confidently manage mezzanine-related projects. * 3–5 years’ experience in a Design Engineer / Structural Detailer role * Mezzanine floor and/or structural steel experience is essential * Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Advance Steel * Ability to produce accurate models, fabrication drawings, and BOMs * Experience interpreting technical drawings and project specifications * A methodical and organised approach with strong attention to detail * Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset * The ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Desirable: Experience with Multisuite MezzQUOTE & MezzDESIGN software * Desirable: Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent) What’s on Offer: * Salary up to £43,000 depending on experience * Fully office-based, Nottinghamshire * Opportunity to work on varied, technically interesting projects * Join an experienced and supportive engineering team * Stable, growing business with long-term career potential * Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00 (1-hour lunch) * Friday: 08:00 – 16:00 (30-minute lunch) * Flexibility required in line with business needs * 23 days annual leave + bank holidays * 3 days reserved for Christmas shutdown * Holidays accrued throughout the year If you’re in experienced Design Engineer with mezzanine or structural steel expertise looking for your next opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.
