Estimator

The Opportunity A growing and well-established design & build contractor is seeking an Estimator to join their pre-construction team. The business specialises in commercial fit-out, CAT A & CAT B projects, and full electrical / M&E installations, delivering schemes from concept through to completion. This role will sit within pre-construction, working closely with leadership to support early-stage design, cost planning, and tender strategy. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for: Electrical and/or mechanical packages Full M&E fit-out and installation projects Work closely with the pre-construction team on: Budgeting and feasibility studies Early-stage design input Cost planning and value engineering Interpret drawings, specifications, and client briefs Produce accurate take-offs and BOQs Engage with supply chain to obtain competitive pricing Support design & build tenders from concept through to submission Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal delivery teams Assist in developing tender strategies and programme inputs Attend client meetings and site surveys where requiredWhat They’re Looking For Proven experience as an Estimator within Mechanical, Electrical, or M&E sectors Strong pre-construction experience (ESSENTIAL) Experience working within design & build environments Ability to contribute at early project stages (RIBA stages / concept design) Strong commercial awareness and cost planning capability Experience across: Commercial fit-out (CAT A / CAT B preferred) Installation projects (core requirement) Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsDesirable Experience Background in office fit-out / commercial projects Exposure to high-end or fast-paced D&B environments Experience working closely with pre-construction directors / teams Understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems (for M&E candidates)Why Join Work within a specialist design & build contractor with strong industry reputation Exposure to high-profile commercial fit-out projects across London Key involvement in pre-construction and early project strategy Opportunity to work closely with senior leadership in shaping bids Clear growth path within a developing commercial/pre-construction team
