Machinist CNC Milling & Turning Location: Bradford, BD4 Hours: Full-time, Day Shift Salary: Up to £30,000 DOE Contract Type: Permanent About the Role We are recruiting a hands‑on Machinist to join a specialist Machine Shop within a small, well‑equipped workshop environment. The role is primarily focused on CNC milling and CNC turning, producing one‑off and small‑batch prototype components to support new product development, testing, and continuous improvement activities. You’ll work closely with Application Engineers, Test teams and other internal departments, translating design concepts into high‑quality, precision‑machined parts. This role suits a machinist who enjoys varied, non‑production work and taking ownership of jobs from drawing through to finished component. Key Responsibilities Machine prototype and development components using CNC milling and CNC turning techniques Program, set and operate CNC machines (programming from scratch) Plan machining methods, tooling selection and cutting strategies Work closely with Application Engineers to confirm component and machining requirements Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy Support Test, Prototype Build, Production, Maintenance and Quality teams as required Manufacture fixtures and tooling; modify or section components for analysis and testing Order materials, tooling and consumables for machining activities Maintain excellent workshop housekeeping and follow engineering best practice Work independently, managing workload to meet project deadlines Equipment You’ll Be Working With Haas SL30 CNC Lathe Colchester VMC (3‑Axis) with Fanuc control and 4th‑axis add‑on Colchester semi‑automatic lathe (CNC or manual operation) Small mill drill Pillar drill Chop saw Off‑hand grinder Gcoder 2D CAD / CAM software What We’re Looking For Time‑served engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent hands‑on experience) Strong experience in CNC milling and CNC turning Confident CNC programming experience (essential) Ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings Competent using precision measuring equipment Comfortable working in a prototype / low‑volume environment Organised, proactive and able to work independently Benefits Competitive salary Day‑shift working pattern Varied and interesting prototype machining work Small, modern and well‑equipped workshop High level of autonomy Close collaboration with R&D, Test, Production and Quality teams Interested?
