Factory Manager

Job Title: Factory Manager (Sheet Metal Manufacturing) Location: Hertfordshire Job Type: Permanent Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum Start Date: ASAP Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Factory Manager to oversee all operations within a busy sheet metal manufacturing facility based in Hertfordshire. This is a senior leadership position operating at a Director level, with full responsibility for production, people management, operational performance, and strategic direction of the factory. The successful candidate will bring strong sheet metal manufacturing experience, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing factory operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive efficiency, improve processes, and ensure high standards across all departments. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all factory operations including production, quality, engineering, and logistics Provide strategic leadership and direction across the entire manufacturing facility Manage and develop department managers, supervisors, and production teams Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives Ensure production targets and delivery deadlines are consistently achieved Maintain high standards of quality control and compliance Oversee health & safety performance across the site Manage budgets, costs, and resource planning Work closely with senior leadership on business strategy and growth Implement and improve manufacturing processes and systems Monitor KPIs and report on factory performance Ensure effective communication across all departments Support recruitment, training, and development of staff Requirements: Minimum 10+ years’ experience working within a manufacturing / factory environment Strong background in sheet metal fabrication (essential) Proven experience managing a factory or large production operation Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and senior staff Experience operating at senior management or Director level Strong understanding of production planning and operational management Excellent people management and communication skills Commercial awareness and budget management experience Ability to drive continuous improvement and change Desirable: Experience within subcontract sheet metal manufacturing Lean manufacturing knowledge (5S, Kaizen, etc.) Engineering or manufacturing qualification  What’s on Offer: Permanent position Salary up to £75,000 depending on experience Senior leadership role with autonomy Opportunity to shape and develop factory operations Immediate start available
