Substation CDAE - (TM(phone number removed)) UK Wide | 6-Month Contract Overview We are seeking an experienced Substation CDAE (Contractor Design Approval Engineer) to support a major UK transmission project. This role requires a highly capable engineer who can provide continuous technical oversight and coordination across the full design lifecycle, rather than acting purely in a review and sign-off capacity. You will play a key role in ensuring alignment between multidisciplinary teams and client expectations, particularly in relation to National Grid standards and requirements. Key Responsibilities Act as CDAE across the full project lifecycle, supporting design development through to final approval Provide ongoing technical oversight, ensuring design integrity and compliance throughout Lead coordination between multiple delivery teams, including: AECOM Arup Offshore / international engineering teams Interface directly with National Grid, ensuring alignment with design expectations and standards Translate client requirements into clear, actionable deliverables for engineering teams Support and guide the design review process, ensuring efficient progression through approvals Maintain continuous engagement across the project, going beyond traditional periodic design sign-off Key Requirements Proven experience working as a CDAE on National Grid transmission projects Strong technical background in HV plant and substation design Demonstrated ability to operate in a lead / coordination role across multidisciplinary teams Experience interfacing directly with National Grid stakeholders Ability to manage and coordinate across complex project environments with multiple delivery partners Ideal Candidate Strong communicator with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders Proactive and detail-oriented, with a hands-on approach to design coordination Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment Able to bridge gaps between design teams, client expectations, and delivery requirements Additional Information Contract Duration: 6 months Location: UK Wide (flexibility required) Start: Immediate / ASAP preferred
