he Opportunity We are seeking a talented and customer-focused Design Engineer to join a growing, innovative business operating within a CAD/CAM software product environment. This is a unique hybrid role combining engineering expertise with client interaction, ideal for someone who enjoys both technical problem-solving and working directly with customers. The Role As a Design Engineer, you will act as the bridge between engineering and the customer, ensuring clients get maximum value from the company’s software solutions. Key responsibilities include: * Working closely with customers to understand their technical challenges and requirements * Supporting clients in adopting and optimising the software within their workflow * Providing hands-on engineering insight across design, machining, and mechanical applications * Delivering solutions and troubleshooting issues in a clear, practical way * Collaborating with internal teams to improve product performance and customer experience * Acting as a trusted technical advisor to clients About You We are looking for someone who is both technically strong and commercially aware, with excellent communication skills. Essential: * Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) * Minimum 5 years’ experience in design engineering or a similar role * Hands-on experience in machining, design, and mechanical engineering environments * Strong understanding of CAD/CAM systems or software products * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Customer-focused mindset with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly * Problem-solving attitude with a proactive approach Desirable: * Experience in a customer-facing or applications engineering role * Exposure to software-based engineering products or solutions What’s on Offer * Competitive salary: £35,000 – £45,000 * Commission structure rewarding performance * Bonus scheme * Opportunity to work in a modern, technology-driven environment * Career progression within a growing business * A dynamic role combining engineering, technology, and client engagement
