Job Description: Extrusion Line Engineer Location: Waterlooville Pay: £20.00 per hour Job Type: Full-time Company: V3 Recruitment (working on behalf of our client) Job Description V3 Recruitment are currently working on behalf of a well-established manufacturing company based in Waterlooville who are looking to recruit an experienced Extrusion Line Engineer to join their team. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will be responsible for the setup, operation, optimisation, and performance of extrusion lines to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The role plays a key part in maintaining stable processes, reducing downtime, and ensuring consistent output and product quality. Key Responsibilities Setting up, starting, adjusting, and shutting down extrusion lines Installing and aligning extrusion dies, tooling, calibrators, and downstream equipment Optimising temperatures, screw speed, pressure, line speed, and cooling systems Completing first-off checks and documenting process settings Troubleshooting production issues such as dimensional variation, surface defects, and material inconsistencies Reducing scrap, improving line performance, and maintaining repeatable processes Supporting preventative maintenance and reporting breakdowns when required Working closely with Toolroom and Engineering teams on tooling improvements Ensuring products meet quality and dimensional specifications Accurately recording process parameters and quality checks Supporting new product trials and process improvements Following all health & safety procedures at all times Skills & Experience Essential Previous experience setting up and running plastic extrusion lines Strong understanding of polymer behaviour and extrusion processes Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Hands-on mechanical skills and confidence working with tooling Experience working in high-volume or continuous manufacturing environments Desirable Skills Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Processing, or similar Experience with calibration tanks, haul-offs, cutters, slitters, or winders Knowledge of Lean / Continuous Improvement tools (5S, SMED, OEE) Experience working within ISO 9001 environments Forklift or overhead crane certification Personal Attributes Practical and hands-on approach Strong attention to detail Able to work in a fast-paced production environment Good communication and teamwork skills Proactive and improvement-focused Safety and quality driven What's on Offer £20.00 per hour Long-term opportunity with a well-established manufacturer Supportive engineering and production team Opportunity to be involved in process improvements and new product trials
