Job Title: Commissioning Engineer - EC&I / Electrical Location: AWE Burghfield Site Duration: 12 Month Contract Start: ASAP Working Pattern: Full-time, site-based | 11 shifts on, 3 off (days transitioning to nights) IR35 Status: Inside IR35 Overview We are seeking multiple experienced Commissioning Engineers with a strong Electrical or EC&I bias to support works on the AWE Burghfield site. This role will focus on the safe and compliant commissioning of complex systems within a highly regulated environment, ensuring assets are fully tested, verified, and ready for operational handover. Key Responsibilities Execute commissioning activities across electrical and EC&I systems Develop and review commissioning plans, test documentation, and procedures Perform inspection, testing, and validation of installed systems Fault finding, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues Interface with construction, design, and project teams to ensure seamless delivery Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out in line with safety, quality, and regulatory standards Support system handover, including documentation and client acceptance Commissioning Scope LV/HV electrical distribution systems Control panels, instrumentation, and field devices PLC/SCADA integration and functional testing Cable installation, termination, and loop checks System integration and end-to-end testing Pre-commissioning and final commissioning phases Requirements Essential: Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer (Electrical or EC&I) Strong background in industrial, infrastructure, or highly regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, defence, oil & gas) Experience with electrical testing, instrumentation, and control systems Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications Valid CSCS or ECS card prior to start Eligible for SC Clearance (must have lived and worked in the UK for the last 5 years) Desirable: HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related discipline Experience with PLCs/SCADA systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley) CompEx or relevant hazardous area certification Previous experience on nuclear or defence sites Rates & Benefits £58.93 per hour (Umbrella) £5.00 per hour shift uplift (increasing night shift rates accordingly) £100 per diem available for candidates travelling 30+ miles to site Additional Information Candidates can start on BPSS clearance, with SC clearance in progress Full-time, site-based role with long-term project pipeline Immediate starts available
