Project Engineer Location: Kent (full-time on site) Near Lydd Contract Length: 24 months Start Date: April 2026 Working Pattern: 4-day week on site IR35 Status: Inside IR35Rate: £51.89 per hour (Umbrella) Notice Period: 4 weeksOverview We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme on a full-time, site-based basis in Kent. This is a long-term contract opportunity within a highly regulated environment, supporting complex engineering projects from concept through to completion. Due to the nature of the work, UK citizenship is required. Key Responsibilities Lead and support end-to-end project engineering activities across complex programmes Identify project requirements and stakeholder needs Contribute to Project Execution Plans, including design, safety case, and commissioning strategies Support optioneering and concept design development Produce and approve technical specifications and engineering documentation Manage and oversee detailed design activities in line with design authority standards Act as a Responsible Engineer where required, including preparation of modification proposals Review and approve contractor documentation (method statements, risk assessments, work instructions) Provide technical supervision during construction, installation, commissioning, or decommissioning Ensure configuration control and compliance throughout the project lifecycle Manage project handover, ensuring all documentation, training, and drawings are complete Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance Requirements Proven experience in a Project Engineer role within a highly-regulated or industrial environment Background in mechanical or electrical engineering on complex plant or infrastructure projects Experience delivering complex engineering projects Strong understanding of engineering standards and compliance requirements Ability to manage technical documentation and project records to a high standard Experience reviewing contractor deliverables and ensuring quality assurance Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skillsDesirable Skills & Experience Experience within nuclear or other highly regulated sectors Knowledge of commissioning and decommissioning processes Strong document control and quality assurance mindsetAdditional Requirements UK Citizenship is essential Ability to work full-time on site (no hybrid working) Willingness to complete required site compliance checks, including: Security clearance (BPSS) Drugs & alcohol testing DBS check Completion of required site safety training prior to start Services advertised by Gold Group are those of an Agency and/or an Employment Business.
