Quantity Surveyor Location: London / Birmingham (Hybrid) Salary: c£65,000 + Benefits Sector: Construction / Mixed-Use Developments The Opportunity A well-established and growing consultancy is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of complex, high-value city-centre mixed-use developments. This is a role for someone who can already operate independently commercially, but still has the drive to push toward Senior QS / Associate level. You’ll gain exposure across the full project lifecycle from early-stage cost planning through to final account on projects that actually test your commercial ability. The Role Key responsibilities include: * Preparation of cost plans, estimates, and feasibility studies * Supporting procurement processes (BoQs, tender analysis, contractor selection) * Managing valuations, variations, and change control * Ongoing cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting * Supporting delivery across mixed-use developments (residential, commercial, retail, leisure) You’ll be working in live project environments, not sat producing reports in isolation. Project Exposure Complex city-centre developments Mixed-use schemes including: Residential Commercial / Office Retail & Leisure Public realm Involvement in risk reviews, value engineering, and cost optimisation — proper commercial exposure. Stakeholder Engagement * Engaging with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities * Contributing to meetings, site discussions, and workshops * Building strong working relationships through clear, proactive communication What We’re Looking For * Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar * 5+ years’ experience within cost management / commercial roles * Experience within mixed-use or complex developments (preferred) * Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts Confident in: * Cost reporting * Variations * Procurement processes * Strong numerical and analytical skills The Right Character * Commercially switched-on with a desire to progress * Curious and proactive — wants to understand the “why,” not just the task * Organised and reliable — delivers consistently * Confident communicator — comfortable in front of clients * Ambitious — working toward chartership and long-term progression What’s On Offer * Salary circa £65,000 + benefits * Clear route to Senior QS / Associate level * Support toward RICS chartership (structured mentoring) * Exposure to high-profile, complex developments * Collaborative, professional environment
