ENGLISH TEACHER - SEMH SCHOOL Wandsworth, London | Full Time | Start: ASAP About the Role We are recruiting a passionate and resilient English Teacher on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in Wandsworth. This is an exceptional opportunity for a teacher who understands that for some young people, finding their voice through language and literature can be genuinely life-changing. You will work in a small, structured environment where every lesson is an opportunity to build confidence, spark curiosity, and support pupils who have often been let down by mainstream education. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver creative, differentiated English lessons suited to the needs of SEMH pupils Use literature, spoken word and creative writing as tools to support emotional expression and development Build consistent, trusted relationships with students who may present with complex emotional and behavioural needs Work collaboratively with SENCOs, pastoral staff and external agencies to support individual pupils Adapt lessons responsively - remaining flexible when pupil needs change day to day Track and assess student progress and contribute to EHCP reviews where required Model positive communication and help pupils develop literacy skills for life beyond schoolWhat We're Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential Experience teaching English at secondary level Calm, emotionally intelligent, and resilient under pressure A trauma-informed approach to behaviour and relationships Genuine belief that every young person deserves a quality education Experience in SEMH, PRU, SEN or alternative provision - desirable Knowledge of EHCP processes - desirableWhat's On Offer Competitive salary in line with MPS/UPS - negotiable based on experience Small class sizes with real opportunity to build meaningful relationships Supportive, close-knit staff team with strong SLT backing CPD opportunities within a specialist setting Excellent transport links across Wandsworth and South London A role where your work genuinely matters every single dayHow to Apply If this sounds like the role for you, get in touch today - we'd love to hear from you.
