Qualified ACA/ACCA Corporate Accounts Manager


Our clients a top 100 accountancyy practice are looking for an experienced manager to join a growing corporate department. You would be the main contact for the clients within your portfolio and be responsible for ensuring a timely and efficient delivery of work. The role will involve planning individual assignments, allocating resources and reviewing the work done by junior members of the team. Responsible to: Partner / Director Date for review: 6 months from the start date MAIN TASKS 1. Client Service To act as the main point of contact with the client throughout the assignment, responding to their needs and managing their expectations. Work directly with a director/ partner on the planning and project management of each assignment. To monitor the progress of assignments to ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner, on budget and in accordance with client expectations. To review the work in progress, comparison to budget and preparing invoice for approval. To fully understand the commercial principles behind the Firm’s billing structure and related profitability model ensuring through communication that it realistically reflects the related volume of work. To be able to discuss with clients the wider services offered by the firm and be able to provide advice as to where they might be useful to the client. 2. Line Management To participate in the recruitment and selection process for new team members. To participate in the induction process for new team members To manage the performance and development of direct reports through coaching and mentoring. Planning and organising own client portfolio with an allocation of workload and resources to the junior team members. Communicating with directors and partners regarding on-going and future work, including any matters involving the corporate department and clients. 3. Technical Knowledge Maintaining a good understanding of current accounting standards and practices through attending CPD courses and undertaking own research. A good knowledge of statutory financial statements in accordance with the ISAs and Companies Act 2006. Preparation of corporation tax computations and returns. Preparation of financial statements under UK GAAP. 4. Health & safety Employees as individuals of the Firm have a statutory duty to co-operate together to promote health and safety best practice. Key skills and abilities Essential Qualified ACCA or ACA Accountant Strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS UK corporation tax knowledge Ability to observe and understand client business processes. Practical knowledge of the preparation of group accounts. Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines / client expectations. Able to work independently and take responsibility for activities but escalate matters when required Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently. Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information and challenges. Meticulous attention to detail, process and procedure. Ability to lead and work as part of team. Ability to present work to a high standard, including written reports. Strong IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and specialist finance packages. Desirable Knowledge of CCH Accounts Production useful but not essential. Particular interest or specialism in a specific sector would be beneficial. Experience with other Corporate assignments (valuations, ERS and restructuring etc.) Experience of working with owner-managed businesses A working knowledge of book keeping software.
