Child Support Worker


We are recruiting compassionate, reliable and emotionally resilient Residential Support Workers to join a group of trauma-informed children’s homes based in the rural Littlehampton & Fontwell (West Sussex) area. About the Homes This provider operates three small, therapeutic homes supporting children aged 5–10 years old. You will primarily be based in one home but may be required to support another service if needed. All children attend the provider’s own school provision. These are trauma-informed homes, focused on building long-term, therapeutic relationships and creating a safe, nurturing and structured environment for children who have experienced early life trauma. The Role * 40 hours per week * Sleep-ins required (4 per month once permanent) * Shift patterns: * 7:30am – 10:30pm * 7:30am – 2:30pm * 2:30pm – 10:30pm * Sleep ins You will support children with daily routines, emotional regulation, education engagement, activities and personal development, while maintaining clear boundaries and a calm, structured home environment. This role requires patience, consistency and a strong understanding of trauma-informed care. The provider invests heavily in staff development and offers training from day one, including: * Team Teach * Positive Behaviour Support * Restraint & Physical Intervention Training * Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare Essential Requirements * Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential – rural location) * Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available) * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain) * Ability to work 40 hours per week including sleep-ins * A calm, caring, reliable and emotionally resilient nature * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children Experience in one or more of the following: * Residential childcare * Family assessment work * Youth work * SEN support * Schools or similar child-focused settings This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nurturing, trauma-informed organisation that genuinely values long-term therapeutic relationships and staff development.
