Port operative


The Port Operative role will be part of multi skilled and work within a team to carry out operations efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner, operating plant, equipment, and support tasks across all areas of the site. This is a site-based role with work primarily based in Teesside England. Willingness to work flexible hours as required for 24/7 operation within a multi shift pattern. Type of Contract: (PAYE/LTD) Location: Hartlepool Responsibilities * Operating heavy machinery, such as Telehandlers, Forklifts and MEWP's when required. * Climbing to heights and conducting work example – Slinging and Signalling. * Port Operations and logistics. (Stevedoring) * Follow instructions from supervisors. * Carry out any other tasks deemed necessary by site team. * Ensure GE policies and procedures are applied and complied with on assigned projects. * Report any EHS incidents. Requirements * Ability to use basic hand tools and HYTORC equipment desirable. * Mechanical comprehension desirable. * Previous experience working as a Port Operative / Stevedore / Multi-skilled Operative is highly desirable. * IOSH / CCNSG Safety Passport * FLT NPORS CAT B / C highly desirable * NPORS N138 Telescopic Handler highly desirable * IPAF MEWP Operator’s Licence highly desirable * A40 Slinger Signaller * GWO, Working at Height, Advance Rescue, First Aid, highly desirable, but not essential. * OG UK Medical * Extremely H&S conscientious always * Aptitude to learn new skills and have a flexible outlook. * Flexible approach to all aspects of site activities * Basic IT skills, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel. * Strong communication skills. * Ability to work with all levels of management, engineering, and trades (internally and externally). * Work to deadlines * Work under pressure * Ability to fit into and enhance the existing operations team
