MOT Tester – Permanent Opportunity Salary: £30,000 – £50,000 per annum (DOE) Location: On-site Matthew James Recruitment is supporting a reputable and well-established automotive service centre in the search for a qualified MOT Tester to join their growing team. The Role As an MOT Tester, you will be responsible for carrying out Class 4 (and where applicable Class 7) MOT inspections in line with DVSA regulations, ensuring all vehicles meet current safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities: * Conduct MOT tests in full compliance with current DVSA legislation and testing procedures * Complete comprehensive inspections of key vehicle components including brakes, suspension, tyres, steering, lighting and exhaust systems * Accurately identify faults, advisory items and repair requirements * Utilise diagnostic equipment, hand tools and testing machinery safely and effectively * Maintain precise and compliant digital and written records of inspections * Support with minor repairs and adjustments where required * Ensure the MOT bay and workshop environment remains clean, safe and compliant with Health & Safety standards * Keep up to date with regulatory changes and industry best practice Candidate Profile * Valid DVSA-recognised MOT Tester licence * Strong mechanical knowledge across a broad range of vehicle systems * Previous experience within an MOT Tester or Vehicle Technician role * Confident using workshop tools, testing equipment and diagnostics * High attention to detail with a methodical approach to compliance * Clear communication skills when discussing findings with customers or colleagues * Physically capable of working within a workshop environment What’s on Offer * Competitive salary between £30,000 – £50,000 depending on experience * Permanent, stable position within a respected garage * Supportive working environment with ongoing development opportunities * Modern workshop facilities and equipment If you are a qualified MOT Tester seeking a secure, long-term opportunity within a professional and forward-thinking garage, we would welcome a confidential discussion
