Junior Design Engineer

An established and growing UK product manufacturer in the Southampton area is looking to hire a Junior / Graduate Product Design Engineer to join their small, hands-on design team. This is a brilliant opportunity for a graduate or early-career designer who wants genuine responsibility and visibility in a fast-moving product environment. The Role This position currently sits at the intersection of product design and visual/marketing support, with a clear intention for it to evolve into a more fully product-focused engineering role over time. You will be involved in: * 3D CAD design and modification of consumer products (SolidWorks preferred) * Producing accurate 2D technical drawings * Updating CAD line drawings into Adobe Suite for installation manuals, technical documentation and brochures * Supporting prototyping and product development activities * Working closely with manufacturing and internal stakeholders This is a practical, hands-on environment where you’ll see designs move from concept through to production. What They’re Looking For * Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar * Strong 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks highly desirable) * Ability to interpret and produce 2D technical drawings * Understanding of manufacturing processes * Exposure to prototyping * Realistic 3D rendering capability * Portfolio required at application stage * Strong communication skills and good cultural fit The Environment * Southampton area location * 5 days per week on site * Open to candidates who need to relocate * Two-stage interview process (online then on-site) If you’re an early-career designer who wants exposure across product engineering, manufacturing, and brand presentation - and you’re ready to take real ownership - this is a strong step forward.
