PTS Electrician

We're currently seeking an experienced PTS Electrician with specialist knowledge of 650V trackside power systems to join our established team delivering critical rail infrastructure works. This is a contract position focused on Works Delivery out of York, but covering sites across the East Coast Main Line (ECML) and associated routes. The role involves the installation, maintenance, fault finding, testing, and repair of trackside electrical infrastructure — including 650V feeder vaults, signalling power supplies, functional supply points (FSPs), battery systems, cabling, terminations, and associated equipment. Key responsibilities include: * Safe execution of electrical works on or near the line in accordance with industry standards and safety protocols * Working with 650V AC distribution systems supplying trackside signalling and functional equipment * Fault diagnosis, remedial repairs, and planned maintenance * Inspection, testing (including Megger/cable testing), and commissioning activities * Crimping, terminating, and installing SWA/containment where required * Compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental requirements Essential requirements: * Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification (ideally with AC DCCR or relevant rail endorsements) * Proven hands-on experience working on 650V trackside power systems (e.g., feeder vaults, FSPs, signalling power distribution) * JIB Gold Card (or equivalent) and up-to-date 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification * 2391 (or similar) Inspection & Testing certification highly desirable * Strong rail electrical background with trackside experience * Full UK driving licence preferred This role operates inside IR35 via an umbrella or PAYE structure but offers a very competitive hourly rate (negotiable based on experience — significantly above standard market levels for this specialism).
