Job Title: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Woking Job Type: Permanent Sector: Building Services Start Date: Flexible Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 per annum Overview A new vacancy has been created for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services team in Woking. This is a senior-level opportunity suited to a technically strong mechanical engineer who can take ownership of projects, lead design delivery, and play a key role within the wider engineering team. Key Responsibilities Lead the mechanical design of building services projects from concept through to completion Take technical ownership of HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation systems Produce and review detailed mechanical calculations and specifications Oversee drawing production and ensure compliance with UK standards Coordinate with electrical, public health and other multidisciplinary teams Attend client and design team meetings Mentor and support junior engineers Contribute to maintaining high technical and quality standards Requirements Proven experience operating at the Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer level Strong background in Building Services mechanical design Excellent technical knowledge of HVAC and associated systems Experience delivering projects across multiple RIBA stages Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to manage workload and support project deadlines Candidate Profile You will be a confident and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer ready to step into (or continue within) a principal-level position.
