SEN Learning Support Assistant - Andover Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and patient SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive school in Andover. This long-term position involves supporting students with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and build essential skills both academically and socially. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide tailored, day-to-day support for pupils who require additional guidance. Whether offering focused 1:1 assistance or supporting small groups, you will play an important role in helping pupils engage positively with their learning. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with SEND experience, as well as graduates looking to build a career within education, psychology, or social care. The Role Provide 1:1 and in-class support for pupils with additional needs Assist with small-group interventions to strengthen core learning skills Help pupils manage routines, emotions, and transitions throughout the school day Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour Support teachers with adapted resources and personalised strategies Build trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe and supported Work collaboratively with SEN staff, pastoral teams, and class teachers Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children or young people with SEND (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, etc.) Calm, empathetic, and able to respond sensitively to individual needs Adaptable and confident supporting pupils across different year groups Strong communication and teamwork skills Passionate about making a difference in the lives of pupils who need extra support Graduates in psychology, education, childhood studies, or related fields encouraged to apply Contract Details: Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant Location: Andover Start Date: ASAP Hours: Full-time, long-term Pay: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour Duration: Long-term Experience, Training & Safeguarding: Relevant SEN or school experience desirable Safeguarding training required (can be provided) Understanding of SEN strategies an advantage Eligibility: Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) Two professional references What Prospero Teaching Offers: Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding & behaviour management Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant Opportunities for progression within SEN and education A meaningful, rewarding role supporting students who benefit from additional guidance If you're passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and want a role where you can make a real difference, wed love to hear from you.
