We are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to work as part of system architecture team to deliver functional safety implementation for our tier 1 supplier based in Coventry, West MIdlands The Role This role is responsible for the concept and implementation parts of the ISO26262 standard (pt.3 to pt.6) and its interpretation within our clients EV platforms to satisfy ISO26262 guidelines. Key Responsibilities Perform functional safety analyses in accordance with ISO 26262, identify gaps, propose improvements, and define safety requirements. Collaborate with design and control engineering teams to review system and software designs, ensuring that safety requirements are complete, consistent, and correctly implemented Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 26262 processes throughout the product development lifecycle, including documentation, reviews, and assessments. Assist client EV platform testing teams in deriving safety-related test cases and preparing test documentation for software validation, integration, and unit testing. Note: the exact responsibilities will depend on the qualifications and background of the candidate Requirements Degree in software Engineering, computer science or system engineering In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262 At least 4 years of experience as safety engineer Experience with generating requirements and requirements management systems. Level 2 safety reviewer, responsible for monitoring and evaluating software implementation, carried out by software teams High analytical, strategic and conceptual competence Entrepreneurial thinking and acting Ability to work in a cross-functional team Excellent communication skills Advantageous Software development experience in the software requirement specification, architecture specification and software low level design specification and the relevant tests In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262 part 6 and specific knowledge in software development for ASIL requirements Experience with by-wire systems Experience as control engineer
