Category Buyer


Our clients based close to Fareham are actively seeking a Category Buyer to join their growing Supply Chain team. Duties & Responsibilities: • Assist in developing procurement strategies for specific product categories. • Support preparation and implementation of category plans. • Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate supplier capabilities to support procurement decisions. • Monitor commodity pricing trends and adapt procurement strategy. • Prepare documentation for contract discussions and meetings to drive continuous cost down. • Assist in/own contract negotiation, maintaining supplier agreements, and ensuring contractual compliance. • Manage supplier relationships by tracking supplier performance and driving the resolution of supplier related issues. • Meet with suppliers to review corrective action plans. • Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, marketing, operations, and finance to gather business requirements and support aligned procurement activities. • Perform procurement data analysis to identify cost saving opportunities and implement them. • Develop a procurement plan based on historical procurement data. • Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards, assisting in mitigating supply chain risks. • Support senior colleagues in auditing supplier compliance documentation. • Identify potential compliance concerns and escalate appropriately. • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on compliance regulations and procurement best practices Skills & Experience * Experience in a procurement or supply chain role within an electromechanical manufacturing environment * Negotiation and Supplier Management * Knowledge of ERP Systems Benefits 25 days holiday + bank holidays Pension Life Assurance Health Cash Plan Hybrid working arrangements
