Shift Engineer (Mechanical) Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust – Hammersmith Hospital £45,000+ 12-Hour Shifts | 7am–7pm / 7pm–7am (Weekly Rotation) Static Site – No Travel Mechanical Maintenance Engineer | NHS | Hospital | Plant Room | £45K+ We are recruiting for two mechanically biased Shift Engineers to join the on-site estates team at Hammersmith Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking for a stable, long-term role within a critical healthcare environment. You will be working on complex plant and mechanical systems that directly support frontline NHS services. If you have strong experience in PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and reactive maintenance within large commercial, healthcare, or FM environments — this role offers job security, technical challenge, and excellent exposure. Key Responsibilities * Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance * Working on boilers, pumps, AHUs, pressurisation units and HVAC systems * Maintenance of heating and cooling systems * Supporting steam systems, BMS and plumbing systems (desirable) * Fault finding and diagnostics within a live hospital environment * Ensuring compliance with health & safety and NHS regulations * Working effectively within a 24/7 shift team Requirements * Mechanically apprenticeship trained or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or similar) * Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a large site environment (hospital, FM, commercial, industrial) * Strong knowledge of heating, cooling and plant room systems * Experience with steam, BMS or plumbing advantageous * Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills * Able to remain calm and professional under pressure * Strong communication and teamwork skills Why Apply? * £45,000+ salary * Permanent static site role (no travel) * Exposure to complex NHS mechanical plant systems * Stable and secure working environment * Opportunity to work within critical healthcare infrastructure * Structured shift pattern * Great company benefits, including 6% Company Pension Plan and 25 days holidays and 8 bank holidays.
