Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5 General Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Newham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting pupils in Key Stage 2. As the general Year 5 Teaching Assistant you will be supporting the teacher; children with their English and Maths and manage behaviour in the class etc. Although not assigned one child to support, the expectation is that all the children in the class are supported to access learning. Start Date ASAP until July 2026 Hours Full-time, Monday to Friday Approximately 08:30- 15.30 The Role Supporting the Year 5 class teacher with the delivery of lessons Working with small groups to reinforce learning in English and Maths Providing targeted support to pupils who require additional guidance Assisting with classroom preparation and resource organisation Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies This larger than average Newham Primary school is well organised, friendly and with a clear behaviour management policy which children are aware of. The Ideal Candidate Previous experience working in a primary school setting (preferred) Strong understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum Confident supporting literacy and numeracy development Patient, proactive and adaptable Able to work effectively as part of a team Who should apply: An experienced teaching assistant or graduate living in close proximity to Newham An Enhanced Child Only DBS and/or Overseas Police checks A CV that covers your employment and education history since you finished formal education and any employment breaks must be explained Legal Right to work in the UK
