The Role The Associate Director - Power Engineering will provide senior leadership across high-voltage power and substation projects, guiding teams from concept through to detailed design and delivery. The role combines strategic, commercial and technical responsibility, acting as a senior authority for HV electrical design whilst shaping business growth and client relationships. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, influence bids and frameworks, and champion innovation, sustainability and quality across the power engineering portfolio. This position plays a key role in developing people, growing capability, and strengthening the organisation’s position in the UK power market. Experience Required Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (Master’s desirable) with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in power engineering design, including high-voltage substations up to 765kV. Proven track record of leading large, multidisciplinary design teams and delivering complex, multi-million-pound projects or frameworks from concept to completion. Strong technical authority in high-voltage electrical design, with broad knowledge of substation disciplines and relevant IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards. Demonstrable commercial and business leadership experience, including budget management, risk assessment, bid leadership, fee negotiation and client relationship management. Chartered Engineer status preferred, with excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills and a commitment to safety, sustainability and quality in delivery
