About the Company A specialist engineering services organisation operating within the UK power and utilities sector. The company delivers commissioning and testing solutions across a range of electrical infrastructure projects, working with leading switchgear manufacturers and network operators. Its focus is on safe, high-quality delivery and developing technical capability within its engineering teams. The Role The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for carrying out cold commissioning activities on electrical power projects across the UK, with a particular focus on 11–33kV switchgear installations. The role involves working directly on site to pre-commission, test and commission equipment, whilst liaising with client representatives to ensure successful system handover. In addition to technical delivery, the engineer will support and mentor junior commissioning technicians and occasionally assist senior engineers on larger, more complex projects. Health and safety compliance and accurate documentation are central to the role. Experience Required HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the power industry. Practical experience in cold commissioning of 11–33kV switchgear, including work on equipment from manufacturers such as Siemens, Schneider, ABB and Ormazabal. Proven ability to carry out and document commissioning and testing activities, including FATs, SATs, customer witnessing and final handover. Hands-on experience with electrical testing and protection systems, including basic protection relays, secondary injection, CT/VT testing, insulation resistance and transformer installation tests. Full UK driving licence, strong communication skills, and the ability to work safely on site whilst supporting and mentoring junior technicians
