CAMHS Occupational Therapist

What the role actually looks like CAMHS inpatient wards Tier 3 & Tier 4 services Crisis and home treatment teams Eating disorder units Early intervention and neurodevelopmental services Day-to-day responsibilities will include: Conducting occupational therapy assessments of children and young people to identify the impact of mental health difficulties on daily functioning, participation, and independence Developing and implementing evidence-based OT interventions tailored to individual needs and goals Delivering individual and group-based therapeutic programmes including sensory integration, life skills, and activity-based approaches Collaborating within MDTs alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and social workers Setting meaningful, measurable goals with young people and their families using an occupational framework Assessing and advising on environmental adaptations, equipment, and community access Producing occupational therapy reports and contributing to care plans and CPA reviews Providing consultation and training to other professionals and carers on OT approaches Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous clinical records to HCPC and RCOT standards Contributing to clinical supervision, service development, and audit What we need from you Essential: HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist — no conditions or restrictions Experience working within CAMHS or a children's mental health setting (post-registration) Competency in OT assessment and intervention within a mental health context Up-to-date mandatory training including BLS and safeguarding children Level 2+ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain) Strong analytical, communication, and report writing skills Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team Desirable (but not always required): Sensory integration training or qualification Experience with neurodevelopmental presentations including ASD, ADHD, and DCD Group facilitation skills and experience delivering therapeutic group programmes Post-graduate training in relevant therapeutic approaches Supervisory or mentorship experience What you'll get from us: Contract rates that are genuinely competitive — no vague promises Flexible contract lengths — short, long, rolling, you decide One dedicated consultant who specialises in your field — not a generalist with a list Fast, hassle-free compliance and onboarding Access to contracts not advertised on the general job boards Real ongoing support throughout your placement — not just at the start An experienced OT with a passion for CAMHS and looking for your next contract?
