The Careers & Employability Adviser (Progression-focused) will support the development and delivery of careers and employability support for mature and widening participation students across all campuses, including Levels 3–7. The role has a particular focus on supporting students to progress into professional employment, achieve promotion or role change, and move into graduate-level, specialist or leadership roles. Working closely with the Careers & Employability Manager, academic teams and external partners, the post holder will provide high-quality careers guidance, deliver progression-focused employability activity, and contribute to improving student outcomes, employability and Graduate Outcomes performance. Key Responsibilities Careers Guidance & Student Support * Provide one-to-one and group careers and progression coaching supporting career planning, job search, promotion, role change, and progression. * Support students who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking internal or external career progression. * Provide CV, application, personal statement, LinkedIn, and interview preparation support appropriate to different career stages. * Support students to identify realistic career pathways aligned to their subject area, experience, and aspirations. * Establish and maintain communication channels with students across all campuses. * Provide a visible “one-stop” careers and progression information point for students and staff queries relating to careers, recruitment, and progression. * Share up-to-date knowledge of labour market trends, recruitment processes, application formats, and employer expectations. * Maintain accurate student engagement records including appointments, interventions, and progression outcomes. Employability Programmes & Resources * Work with the Careers & Employability Manager to contribute to the development of structured progression-focused employability initiatives. * Design and deliver workshops, toolkits, and resources covering professional identity, employability skills, job search strategy, and career planning. * Create digital and in-person resources to support students at different career stages. Embedded Employability & Curriculum Collaboration * Work with academic teams to embed employability and progression activity within programmes. * Deliver timetabled employability and careers sessions within curriculum. * Establish referral pathways between academic staff and careers. Employer & Alumni Engagement * Support employer and alumni engagement activity including panels, insight sessions, and mentoring. * Contribute to the organisation of employer and alumni events that enhance student career awareness and progression. Monitoring & Continuous Improvement * Maintain accurate engagement and destination data to support reporting and evaluation. * Collect student feedback to inform service improvement. * Contribute to institutional targets relating to progression, employability, and graduate outcomes. Qualifications and Experience Essential * Degree or equivalent qualification * Experience supporting mature or adult learners, particularly those combining study with employment. * Experience supporting students or jobseekers with career progression or entry to employment. * Experience delivering one-to-one and/or group careers or employability support. * Knowledge of labour market trends and recruitment practices. * Experience working with multiple stakeholders. Desirable * Experience in higher or further education. * Experience organising employability or careers activity or events. * Experience creating learning resources or guidance materials. * Coaching or guidance qualification/training
