Senior Estimator – Construction / M&E / HVAC / Electrical / Maintenance / Roofing / New Build / Refurbishment (backgrounds considered) Location: Bedford Salary: Up to £60,000 + Car or Allowance Working Pattern: Office‑based with flexibility for hybrid working The Company A long‑established, family‑run organisation and market leader in the design, manufacture and installation of specialist construction and high‑security solutions. The Role: Senior Estimator This is a senior, influential position within the business. You will take ownership of the estimating function, producing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a wide range of construction and specialist installation projects. You will lead the tendering process, support strategic decision‑making and mentor junior team members. This role suits an experienced Estimator from construction, HVAC, electrical, maintenance, roofing, new build or refurbishment backgrounds. Experience managing or guiding a team is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction, installation and specialist product packages Review tender documents, drawings and specifications to determine project scope Calculate material, labour, plant and subcontractor costs Source, assess and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations Identify risks, value‑engineering opportunities and commercial considerations Work closely with Directors, Sales, Project Management and Production teams Maintain organised records of estimates, bids and pricing history Support and mentor junior estimators, helping develop team capability Represent the business professionally with clients, contractors and stakeholders Required Skills and Experience Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry Backgrounds considered: HVAC, Electrical, Maintenance, Roofing, New Build, Refurbishment, Manufacturing or Subcontracting Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction processes Experience leading or mentoring a team, or readiness to step into leadership High attention to detail with strong analytical and numerical skills Proficiency in estimation software such as Bluebeam or PlanSwift, and strong Excel skills Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design software is beneficial Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational abilities Benefits Up to £60,000 salary Car or car allowance 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, including Christmas shutdown Discretionary annual bonus Pension scheme with salary sacrifice and company‑matched contributions Family‑run business with a friendly, supportive culture Long‑term career development and progression opportunities Opportunity to work on unique, high‑profile and technically interesting projects How to Apply Send your CV to Sally Whittingham or apply online.
