Sales Engineer – Academic & Laboratory Equipment Location UK (Hybrid / Field-based) Sector Scientific, University, Research, Education, Pharmaceutical & Chemical Manufacturing Overview We are seeking a technically strong Sales Engineer to support the sale of advanced equipment used in scientific experiments, research laboratories, teaching environments, and pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with commercial awareness, guiding customers from initial enquiry through to solution delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing team at a process solutions company investing in new UK facilities. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage relationships with research institutions, universities, pharmaceutical companies, and chemical manufacturers Understand customer applications and translate technical requirements into effective equipment solutions Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proposals Support tenders, quotations, and contract negotiations alongside internal teams Provide pre- and post-sales technical support, including application advice and troubleshooting Collaborate with engineering, service, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and sales reports Requirements Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, chemistry, life sciences, or a related discipline Experience in technical sales or applications engineering within laboratory, scientific, or process equipment Strong understanding of laboratory, research, or production environments Confident communicator with strong commercial and negotiation skills Full UK driving licence Willingness to travel to customer sites
