As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll deliver temporary electrical services across the Naval Base — primarily operating as a shore connections electrician, ensuring ships and engineering operations receive safe, reliable power infrastructure. This is not your average static maintenance role. It’s fast-paced, operational and varied — working around vessels, dockside activity and live engineering environments. You’ll be responsible for: Delivering temporary electrical supplies across Portsmouth Naval Base Working on 3-phase systems (50Hz & 60Hz) Supporting shore connections for vessels Maintaining the highest safety standards at all times Communicating clearly with ship staff and engineering teams Supporting Alongside Services when operationally required Participating in on-call rotas and overtime when needed Every day is different — and the work genuinely supports UK defence operations. What you’ll need To be successful as an Electrical Fitter, you’ll have: Completed an Electrical Apprenticeship (or equivalent route) NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Installations Electrical Testing qualification BS7671 18th Edition Experience with 3-phase systems (50Hz & 60Hz) PAT Testing qualification Full UK Driving Licence Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance About you You’re a qualified electrician who enjoys practical, hands-on work. You’re confident working safely in demanding environments and can adapt to changing operational priorities.
